The summer season is coming, and there are lots of visitors who enjoy nice, cool and beautiful summer in Hokkaido. July and August are peak season.

Of course there are many rent-cars at tourist attraction. Foreign drivers do not get accustomed to driving Japanese roads with Japanese cars.

Unfortunately, car accidents happened every season.
According to our record, 10 accidents happened last month(June). We can say it is twice of accidents that are caused by Japanese drivers.


The cause of car accidents are...
1. Rear-end when car went backward to park
2. Sliped and rear-end
3. Crash into other cars or something

Visitors must drive carefully. Especially foreign drivers because it is Japan and not your country.


Some drivers do not realize that they had car accidents. Even if you get scars, dent, crack or break without notice, please inform police and us as soon as you find it.

[2010.1.30] Snow Festivals!!

In winter, some interesting festivals take place in Hokkaido. Many tourists who are from other than Hokkaido and overseas visit them. Especially "Sapporo SNOW FESTIVAL", "Chitose-Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival" and "Asahikawa Winter Festival" are popular.
They have various events that you can enjoy snow and ice.

[Sapporo SNOW FESTIVAL]
Feb 5 - Feb 11
Places : Odori park, Tsudome and Susukino

There are lots of snow statues that created by Japan Self-Defense-Forces and citizens of Sapporo. These snow statues are huge and illuminated during the season. Odori park is the popular site for Sapporo SNOW FESTIVAL. Also you can enjoy Hokkaido food at Tsudome site.

[Chitose-Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival]
Jan 29 - Feb 14
Place : Lake Shikotsu in Chitose

This is an ice festival. You can see icy arts. At night they are illuminated and really beautiful. Fireworks are one of the popular events.
It is very cold because it is beside a lake. Do not forget your extra clothes!

[Asahikawa Winter Festival]
Feb 6 - Feb 11
Places : Asahibashi Riverbank, Tokiwa Park, Nana-Jo Green Road and Heiwa-Dori Kaimono Koen

Snow sculptures of Asahikawa Winter Festival were registered with Guinness World Records as the biggest snow sculptures. This festival is the symbol of Asahikawa.
Also World Ice Sculputing Competition will be held from Feb 6 to 8.
