Renting a car

Q1. What do I need to rent a car?

You will need your driving license, credit card or cash. When paying in cash, one of the following forms of identification is also required: passport; certificate of alien registration;

Q2. Can I extend the rental period while renting?

Please inform the pick-up location of any schedule change. Renting periods can be extended for cars that have no further reservations. Please note that some requests for extensions may not be accepted depending on the period of extension requested.

Q3. I would like to rent a car for a period of one month or more. Are there any special discount plans?

TOYOTA Rent a Car SAPPORO offers a monthly rental system. The system enables a car to be rented for a one-month period for the price of just 15 days. For details, please contact us below.

Q4.Can I pick up and return a car out of business hours?

Cars can only be picked up and returned during each office’s business hours.

Q5.What should I do if I cannot fill up the tank with fuel before returning the car?

A fuel charge based on the driving mileage will be charged at the office of return. If you fill the tank with fuel during the rental period, please show the fuel receipts to our staff.

Q6.How many hours can we rent as the shortest rental period?

Six hours is the shortest rental period. Under the TOYOTA Rent-a-car Rates, 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours are the time bases. When exceeding the time bases, the rate for one extra day (24 hours) or one extra hour will be added depending on the overtime. The rates for one extra day or one extra hour are calculated according to actual renting hours, and a cheaper rate will be applied. Rates differ depending on the class of car. Q7.What procedure should I go through when picking up a car?

When you pick a car up, you are required to sign a contract. Please show your driving license, passport, etc when signing it,. Please confirm the details of the rental, sign your name and pay an estimated amount. After that, check for scratches and dents on the car with a member of staff. If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Q8. Can I drop a car off to a different office from where I rent?

You can drop it off at most of the TOYOTA Rent a Car offices in Hokkaido. When you drop a car off to a different area from where you rent, one-way charge is required.

Q9.Do you have rental ETC cards?

In case of picking up and returning a car only at New Chitose Airport POPLAR, Sapporo Station office, Sapporo Subway Station office, Sapporo Station East office, Susukino Minami 4-jo office, Kita 1-jo Nishi 8-chome office, Kita 1-jo Higashi 2-chome office, JR Shin-Sapporo Station office, Otaru Station office, Niseko Hirafu office, ETC cards can be rented. Please make a reservation of ETC card at the same time of a car reservation.
