Online Reservation

Q : I have not received confirmation yet.
A : Reservation is not yet confirmed until you receive confirmation. We usually send confirmation within 24 hours but it could take more when online reservation is busy. If you do not receive confirmation for 48 hours after submitting, please contact us.
Q : Do I need to pay any deposit when I make a reservation?
A : Deposit is not required when you make a reservation. We ask customers to pay by credit card when you pick up a car.
Q : Which credit card do you accept?
A : We accept most of credit cards including VISA, Master Card, American Express etc.
Q : What is your cancellation policy?
A : Our cancellation policy is as following.

We take cancellation fee under our cancellation policy as below.

Until 7 days before your departure: None
6 - 3 days before your departure: 20% of estimated amount
2 - 1 days before your departure: 30% of estimated amount
On your departure day or after: 50% of estimated amount

Driving License

Q : Can I use my country's driving license to drive in Japan?
A :
(1) The person who has the license of Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Italy or Taiwan ... Please have it issued Japanese translation of your license. You can drive in Japan when you have both the license and its translation with you.
(2) The person who has the license of other countries than above ... Please have it issued international driving license obtained in accordance with the Geneva Convention of 1949. You cannot drive in Japan only with your country's license.
The person without Japanese domestic license or either of (1) or (2) is NOT allowed to drive in Japan. For more details, please see driving license.
Q : Do I need to have special type of driver's license to drive Hiace?
A : Yes. For details, please see driving license.

Insurance Policy

Q : What is your insurance policy?
A : Our insurance policy is as below.

Vehicle damage liability actual cash value /per accident
Bodily injury indemnity Up to 30 million yen (each person)
Q : Is Collision Damage Waiver included into your insurance?
A : Yes. CDW corresponds to vehicle damage liability.
Q : What is the cost if I have an accident?
A : We ask our customer in case of an accident to bear the following amount as the business compensation (Non-Operation-Charge) for we cannot rent the car to next customer during the repair period.
20.000 yen cars returned to the agreed location
50.000 yen cars not returned to the agreed location

Car Navigation

Q : Does my car have GPS navigation system?
A : Yes, all our cars have GPS navigation system.
Q : Does my car have English version of GPS navigation?
A : We have English speaking navigation (the voice is English but the menu on screen is Japanese), though car types and numbers are limited. Please let us know when you make a reservation if you need it. The car types which have English speaking navigation are listed below.
P1 class: Vitz
P2 class: bB & Ractis
P3 class: Corolla Fielder
P4 class: Allion
W1 class: Ipsum & WISH
W2 class: NOAH
W3 class: Alphard & Estima
RV1 class: RAV4

* Regarding as a car request, in case of unexpected circumstances such as a car accident, we might arrange other car model with English speaking GPS or the same model of car with Japanese GPS since the number of English GPS cars is limited.

Winter Drive

Q : I heard Hokkaido has lot of snow. Do I need chains for tire?
A : Hokkaido locals do not put chains. Instead, all our cars are equipped with snow tire in winter. However, road condition is different from summer. Please drive carefully.
Q : I'll go skiing. Do I need snow tire?
A : All our cars are equipped with snow tire in winter. Please drive carefully and enjoy powder snow in Hokkaido.

Member

Q : I want to become a member of your company, how can I get member number?
A : We provide our member number to customers who have reserved through this English website and rented from one of our branch. If you don't get our company's member number with those condition, please contact us via e-mail.
Q : How many mileages did I get for my last rental?
A : Please contact us via e-mail with your name and member number.

Other Car Equipments

Q : Can I listen to music in the car?
A : All our cars have CD player and radio. Please bring your favorite CDs and enjoy the ride.
Q : Can I request for 4WD car?
A : Yes, 4WD car is available except Prius. 4WD version of Prius is not produced. It is 2WD.
Q : Is my car Automatic transmission or Manual transmission?
A : All our cars are Automatic transmission except trucks.

Dropping Off at a Different Branch

Q : Can I pick up a car in Sapporo and return it in Hakodate?
A : Yes. You can drop it off at any of TOYOTA Rent a Car branches in Hokkaido.
Q : How much does it cost to drop off at a different branch?
A : When you drop off in same area as you pick up, one way charge is not required. When you drop off in a different area, extra charge is required, depending on distance and car type. Please find more details at One way charge.

Q : How long does it take from Sapporo to Kushiro?
A : You can check traveling time and distance at Northern Road Navi. It is very useful. Please have a look.
Q : Is the mileage unlimited?
A : Yes, it is unlimited. No extra charge is required no matter how far you drive.
Q : Two people have driver's license in my group. Can both of us drive?
A : Anyone who has appropriate driver's license can drive. No extra charge for second drives.
