The valid international driver's license in Japan.

(1) International driver's license
(89number countries of Geneva Convention of 1949.)
- The customers must have a booklet type of international driver's license like an example (Not a card type).
- On the cover, you can see 1949 (the year of Geneva Convention).
* The customers are not allowed to drive in Japan with an international driver's license obtained in accordance with the Paris Convention of 1926, the Washington Convention of 1943, or the Vienna Convention of 1968.
*To drive Hiace Wagon(W4) you must have a stamp on D box next to the photo.
*International driver's license is valid for one year from the date of issue.
Japanese translation
(2) Foreign driver's license (Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and Taiwan)
These countries' driver's license is good for both domestic and international use.
However, those customers must present the Japanese translation of a driver's license at the same time.
The translation can be issued by your nation's embassy, consulate in Japan or at JAF (Japan Automobile Federation).
* If your driver's license doesn't satisfy the above requirements [ (1) or (2) ], you can't drive in Japan under the Japanese law.

When the illegal parking sticker is attached to a rental car
(1) Report to Police Station
Report to the police station shown on the Illegal Parking Sticker.
Go through the formalities and pay the fine.
(2) When return
Present the documents received from the police and receipt for penalty when you return the car.

Make sure to park your car in the parking area when you leave the car!

Traffic Rules in Japan

- Drivers and passengers must fasten their seatbelts

How to enter an Express Way (toll road)
When you find a traffic sign as right, please follow the arrow according to the sign.- When you see an entrance gate, please go through the General gate as below for paying by cash.
Go through under the General gate as right.
Take a ticket there
*Make sure not to go through ETC gate as right. 
- You can enter the toll road.
How to go out of an Express Way (toll road)
When you find your aimed exit sign as right, please follow the arrow according to the sign.- When you see an exit gate, please go through the General gate as below for paying by cash.
Go through under the General gate as right.
Give the ticket you received at entrance to a staff in a booth.
Pay the toll showed on screen.*Make sure not to go through ETC gate as right. - You can go out of the toll road.

How to Rent TOYOTA Rent a Car in Japan
(1) Make a Reservation
Fill in information required in the booking form and send it to us.
(2) Picking up a Car
- Visit the office you pick up a car
- Tell the counter staff that you have a reservation.
And let the staff know the reservation details and show the following items below when you pick a car up.
*Driving license(See detail of driving license in Japan)
*Passport
*Credit card - Make a contract
- Make sure of the time, date and the place you return - Pay an estimated amount by credit card - Check scratches or dents of the car with a staff
- Set your destination into GPS if needed (let us know if you're not sure how to use GPS or operate the car)
- Enjoy your trip!
* Airport is not available for picking up a car. Please visit a counter of TOYOTA Rent a Car Sapporo in the airport. We will bring you to our office by our courtesy bus.
(3) Drop off the Car
- Fill up the tank with fuel at nearby gas station or pay for the gas at the returning office.
- Return to the scheduled office and check the car with staff
- If you extend the rental period, pay for extra hours/days
- We hope to see you again.
* Please make sure to contact us in case of delay.
* If the car is damaged, we ask you to pay Non Operation Charge at the time of return.
* Airport is not available for dropping off a car. Please return to our office. We will take you to the airport by our courtesy bus then.
About renting a car
Payment
You are asked to pay estimated rates based on the scheduled rental hours and charges for special equipment before departure.
Any excess or deficit will be adjusted after you return the car. A prescribed penalty will be charged if you overrun your scheduled rental hours without prior notice.
Fuel charge
Cars are filled with gasoline or diesel before you rent. Fill the tank when you return the car. If you do not, a prescribed fuel charge depending on mileage will be charged. Fuel charges differ depending on shops. Please contact your nearest shop.
One-Way Rate
The "One-Way System" is a convenient system which allows you to return a rented car to any our shops other than the one where you rented it.
In addition, this system is free of charge if cars are returned to shops in the same prefecture (the same area for Hokkaido).
However, returning cars to shops outside the prefecture (outside of the area for Hokkaido) will be charged.
* Some shops accept a reservation of the one-way system by phone call to the TOYOTA Rent a Car Reservation Center.
Option/Other Rates
Dispatch and pickup of cars as well as options such as 4WD and child seats will be charged separately.
* Some options must be reserved in advance by phone. You are allowed to carry your pets in the vehicle with some conditions such as vehicle types. For further information, please contact our Toyota Rent a Car Reservation Center or shops.
